about

Leia Layus is a yoga teacher and integral therapist whose work integrates somatic movement, Eastern philosophy, and modern holistic wellness. Rooted in the understanding that the body, mind, and spirit are deeply interconnected, her approach invites healing through presence, attunement, and mindful care of the nervous system.

Leia teaches a range of modalities to meet the body in different states of need. Satya Yoga is a meditative and subtle practice designed to support lymphatic flow, release fascial tension, enhance circulation, and gently restore the body with minimal strain on the joints. Her Vinyasa classes are alignment-informed, cultivating strength, mobility, and fluidity through intentional sequencing, while her Restorative Yoga offerings create space for profound rest, regulation, and recovery.

Her approach has been shaped through years of study in Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, and Satya Yoga, including extensive training with Tias and Surya Little of Prajna Yoga. Her continued study of the Yoga Sutras through The Yoga Well Institute, in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar, alongside mentorship from East-West teachers such as Stacie Overby, deeply informs her understanding of embodied practice, subtle awareness, and contemplative living.

In addition to her movement work, Leia holds a Master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and is currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, CA Lic #129720, at Heart In Balance Therapy, supervised by Jeanette Shelby, LMFT, CA Lic #127144. Her therapeutic background brings a trauma-aware, psychologically attuned, and emotionally nuanced lens to her work—supporting clients not only physically, but psychologically and energetically.

Her work is also deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism, Taoist philosophy, Chinese Medicine theory, and the internal arts, cultivated through her ongoing devotion to Cha Dao, tea ceremony, influenced by Global Tea Hut. Alongside continued exploration of Qi Gong, somatic healing traditions, and contemplative philosophy, these practices shape a teaching style that is both poetic and precise—inviting clients into a slower, more refined relationship with their bodies and inner landscape.

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
